This morning there have been posts going round in social media that Ohangla queen Maureen Achieng’ Otiu famously known as Lady Maureen is dead.  In a social media post seen by  Mtaani Radio fact check desk, a section of fans announced the death of Lady Maureen spreading panic.

We have looked at the claim this morning, we have spoke with other Luo artists this morning to ascertain the reports. A close check of the comments section, people have trashed the post as rumors asking the person to pull down the post.

We checked social media pages of Luo Mainstream stations and no information is been published about the death of Ohangla.

A prominent Luo producer Wuod Fibi have clarified the confusion saying a dancer called Maureen Nyar Rongo is the one who died. His post reads,

Stop Killing Lady Maureen On Social Media, she will get well in Jesus Name. As at well, she responding so well to treatment and I know she is fighting hard to overcome. Let’s join hands in praying for her to get well soon. Meanwhile we are Maureen Nyar Rongo who was a dancer in the luo music industry and has worked with a number of Luo Musicians’

 

Photos of sickling  Maureen surfaced early in February 2020 battling a rare disease. Fellow musician Akothee  came to her rescue supporting Gor Mahia hitmaker to get a descent medication.

Lady Maureen’s Health however started deteriorating back in 2018 when she last held a public show thrilling fans. Daily Nation reported in February was stranded in Jaramogi Oginga Odinga after failing to afford medical bill.

We understand the singer is in stable condition and such reports will be hurting her recovery process.

The initial tests at St Fransis Community Hospital in Nairobi showed the singer was diagnosed of hypotension.

She was later taken home and was attending routine health checks at  Pastor Machage Memorial Hospital in Migori. She was then taken to Jaramogi in Kisumu after Akothee convinced her reluctant mother Nancy Achieng.

There was call for financial support to help the singer get a new house after going bankrupt failing to pay  school fees  for her  children.
