Recently,a message was going round WhatsApp with the claim that it was from Safaricom. The message ,which was forwarded to several WhatsApp groups and personal contacts,indicated that Safaricom was rewarding its loyal customers with free Kshs.3,800.

The message gave the directive on how to get the money.It was supposed to be done through a link  shared and stated that it was meant for those who had used Safaricom services regularly for 3 months.The message also had a deadline for the same.

However,Safaricom PLC confirmed that the message was not authentic.They stated that it was not from the company and that they were not even running such a promotion.The message,from the widely-used company,advised its customers to beware of such scammers since Safaricom posts its events and promotions only on its official pages.
