Some Parts of Nairobi Set to Experience Water Shortage For Two Days

The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) today announced that there are some areas set to experience water shortage for the next two days. Through a statement, the NSWSC said they’ll cut water supply following the Expressway road construction.

Areas set to experience the water shortage are South B and South C  estates, including Mater Hospital, Estates along Jogoo Road, including Makadara and Hamza,the whole of Industrial area, Estates along Mombasa Road from City Stadium, including Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Standard Gauge Railway(SGR),Athi River Export  Processing  Zone (EPZ),Coca Cocal,Mukuru,Imara Daima,North Airport Road and Embakasi.

The water supply interruption began today morning at 6.00 a.m and will end on Friday, September 25 at 6.00 a.m.

The NCWSC Managing Director Nahason Muguna appealed to Kenyans to use water sparingly as they restore the supply.

The Expressway, which begins at Mlolongo to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Nairobi’s CBD, and ends at Westlands along Waiyaki Way, started last year and is aimed at reducing traffic jam along Mombasa Road.

Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia says the Sh62billion project will save the country millions of shillings wasted in fuel and time. The Expressway is expected to serve at least 25,000 vehicles per day, with a user expected to pay Sh600 per day to use the road.
