There has been a picture circulating online that Kenyan men are not bathing. On the picture health cabinet secretary Mutahi Kagwe together with other health officers are seen addressing a press conference. The picture has a caption “BREAKING NEWS,MEN ARE NOT BATHING”. It went further to explain that men are advised to take bath at least once per week with an indication that the words were from CS kagwe.
The purported picture with a caption ”men are not Bathing”
According to fact check done by Mtaani radio newsroom, the words put on the picture is not true. The fact check done indicates that the picture was taken from archives in one of the pictures used by media houses during covid 19 briefings to Kenyans.
The aim of writing such captions was to show that men are not bathing during this cold season that people have been talking about. The picture and caption was done by meme makers for fun purposes.
Mtaani radio newsroom went ahead to look for the source of the picture and what was said. The original picture was taken on Friday 18th march 2020 at Afya house when health CS was briefing the country on updates of covid 19.

During the briefing CS Kagwe said “four more suspected cases of corona virus have been admitted at the isolation unit at Mbagathi hospital in the last 24 hours”. Mutahi kagwe also explained the surge of Covid 19 in Kenya and related to other African countries like sierra Leon and Zimbabwe.
Mtaani Radio has since established that the caption picture ”men are not bathing” is false.
