False. Mutyambai is Not Hospitalized

Michael Barnabe.

The National Police Service has responded to rumors that has been circulating on social media for the better part of the weekend that the Inspector General of Police, Hillary Mutyambai, collapsed on Saturday October 16.

In a twitter post published at 2230hrs on Saturday, a user by the name Abuga Makori alleged that Hillary Mutyambai had been rushed to hospital after he collapsed hence asking Kenyans to go ahead and wish the Inspector General a quick recovery.

“BREAKING: Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai collapses, rushed to hospital. Wish him quick recovery.”Makori Abuga had claimed in his message though Twitter account.

Kenyans online were quick to condemn Makori if guessing that it might be false information.

Others have however alleged to the possibility that maybe there is some truth to it, but it would be almost impossible for the NPS to admit to it, as then they would have to explain the IG’s health condition, if any.

The NPS has however come out to clear the air, terming the claims by Abuga as being ‘fake news’. They responded directly through the NPS’s twitter handle, which the IG uses to engage the Kenyan public, through a forum called ‘Engage The IG’

The National Police Service is urging Kenyans to ensure that they ignore the news saying that it was reckless, malicious and unverified reporting.
