The quote has been shared widely on social media. However, the trade unionist has distanced himself from the quote.
According to a tweet seen by Mtaani radio newsroom Atwoli has denied the post saying it was not him.
“I have already pronounced myself on the candidature of William Ruto,” Atwoli tweeted, and asked bloggers to stop using his name to create legitimacy for their purpose.
Atwoli has been the COTU secretary-general since 2001. Other than representing the Kenyan workers, he is very vocal about local and national politics and a great supporter of ODM leader Raila odinga .
Mtaani radio has looked into a direct quote attributed to Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) secretary-general, Francis Atwoli, about Deputy President William Ruto and finds it to be FAKE.
