The National Nuclear Energy Agency has announced that Kenya is expecting to receive it’s first Nuclear plant by 2036.
Speaking to journalist in Eldoret Justus Wabuyabo, the Manager in-charge of legal affairs said the project Will cost 500billion shillings to its completion.
“We are expecting to have the first functional nuclear power plant in Kenya in the year 2036,the capital involved is quite heavy estimates. We will require about 500billion shillings to be able to construct the Nuclear power plant which will be able to be able to generate one thousand megawatts”.
Wabuyabo noted that Nuclear power has many benefits for industrial expansion and also the environment.
“It’s estimated that the plant will employ about one thousand people and obviously will benefit more than a hundred thousand people indirectly. There will be a lot of development going on, infrastructure will improve, Hospitals and other benefits for the local people with Cheap energy will be able to attract many investors to come and invest in the country,”
Wabuyabo reiterated that the Nation’s of South Africa, Egypt and Ghana are some of the Nation’s that have taken steps to establish Nuclear Industries which have no environmental pollution.
