Residents of the North Rift region have called on the National government to replace police with GSU to reduce rampant insecurity in the region.
Led by Benjamin Letting they said this will reduce the cases of insecurity in the region.
“We as the residents from this region we have heard cries from Baringo and Marakwet regions and we plead with the president of these Nation to intervene by bringing fully armed Soldiers to eradicate the cattle rustlers in these regions, we know and understand that there are people connected to these theft cases but we still believe in the ministry of interior that they will work these out, “said Letting.
Ng’etich Korir an officer from Centre for Human Rights and Democracy Department says that there is need for residents to work hand in hand with the Government by reporting cases of Bandits found in the region.
“We want to thank the government for coming through the last attack of student’s of Tot school, secondly we want to call upon the residents in the region to work together with the government by reporting cases of Bandits and cattle rustlers early to reduce extreme attacks”
He called on the leaders in the region to be friendly to the residents r and assess the area before sending the fully armed Soldiers.
“We as Human Rights Activist Democracy we call on the leaders to be friendly with the residents for easy identification of the Bandits. The government should also do investigations before sending the fully armed Soldiers
He called on residents in the region to remain calm as the government works it out.
