Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has dropped out of the Kakamega gubernatorial race in favour of Cleophas Malala.
He will now vie for the senate seat after the deal brokered at Deputy President William Ruto’s Karen home.
Khalwale and Malala recently clashed over who between them is fit to be elected the next Kakamega governor during the Kenya Kwanza rally led by Wetang’ula in Shinoyi market in Kakamega County.
ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula were present when the deal was sealed.
Dp Ruto said he is confident Kakamega will be a Kenya Kwanza County.
