The Kirinyaga County Jubilee party has issued certificates to all its aspirants for various positions save for the gubernatorial one.
Following the move, the aspirants who instantly transitioned to party candidates ranged from the Senatorial, Parliamentary, Woman Representative and Members of the County Assembly MCAs.
The County Committee of Eminent Persons through its chairman Edwin Kinyua said it took them many hours of night oil burning to reach a compromise on one of the six party elective positions.
The Committee has however reserved the issuance of the certificate for the gubernatorial position after the two contenders failed to reach a compromise.
Area Deputy Governor Peter Ndambiri and the outgoing Senator Charles Kibiru however assured the local party membership that they were still engaged in serious talks to get out of the stalemate.
Should Ndambiri get the Jubilee certificate he will then be squaring it out with his estranged boss Anne Waiguru who is running on a UDA ticket.
But should it end up being Kibiru, then Ndambiri will certainly play the second fiddle
Initially according to the Committee outgoing area Woman Representative Ngirici had indicated her desire to join Kibiru and Ndambiri in the scrutiny but changed her mind and went as an Independent candidate.
The 12-member Committee also comprises the Interior PS Karanja Kibicho and Wilson Njega who is his (Karanja’s deputy) among others.
Speaking at the Kirinyaga Central CDF offices within Kerugoya town where the certificates were being issued, Kibicho reminded the candidates to forge a united front to floor their common enemy, the UDA rivals.
“All of you have fought such a battle to clinch the Jubilee certificate but this is just the first phase of the battle ahead and I urge you to start working as a team and form such a formidable force that will challenge the UDA opponents with their mouths gaping,” he said.
The Woman Representative seat was contested by Shujaa Rose Wanjiru Wachira and Rose Kuthii Muguchu.
The Committee after an intense soul searching and many other considerations settled on Shujaa Wachira but promised Muguchu she would certainly be given a position by the new administration.
Former Senator Daniel Karaba was issued with his certificate to battle it out with UDA’s Kamau Murango, Safina’s Peter Kathanga among other contenders.
Kirinyaga Central MP Munene Wambugu who was issued with his Jubilee certificate will now battle it out with Gachoki Gitari of the UDA.
And Mwea MP Kabinga Wachira who also sailed through without any opposition from the Jubilee wing will face UDA s Mary Maingi during the August 9 polls.
Engineer Kangangi Gikungi will face the outgoing Ndia MP George Kariuki of the UDA while Njogu Barua will square it with the incumbent Gichugu MP Gichimu Githinji also of the UDA
The Committee also presented all the 20 area MCAs with their certificates ready for combat with their UDA declared political enemies.
