Fertilizer commodity in Kenya country has been having high prize locking out farmers to do food farming as one way of curbing food security. During the swearing in Dr. William Ruto as the fifth President of Kenya at Kasarani International Stadium, he promised to reduce the price of fertilizer commodity from kshs6500 to kshs. 3500, noting that the high cost of living is related with the low production.
On 22nd September 2022 deputy president Rigathi Gachagua flagged off the first consignment of the Sh3.55b subsidised fertiliser. Gachagua said that the government would supply 1.4 million bags of fertilizers to farmers in the country.

In Dagoretti Sub-county I meet Muthua nyumba kumi chairperson Evanson Kuria Mukuria who is a farmer at Uthuri,when his sentiments comes as some Kenyans from different regions are doubting whether president William Ruto executive older to lower fertilizer was really executed at county level and especially counties depending in agriculture for their daily needs. “Kenya kwanza government has lowered the prize of fertilizer, most of our agro vet shop here in Dagoretti are selling fertilizer kshs. 3500.”
“We are appealing to the ministry of agriculture Nairobi department at least to make the product available here in Dagoretti Sub County for the benefits of urban farmers from Uthiru ruthimitu to access the fertilizer,” Mukuria says Uthiru ruthimitu alone in Dagoretti south constituency have a minimum of over two hundred farmers who depend with agriculture for their daily needs.
However, he says over one hundred residents at Uthiru ruthimitu ward are farming sukuma week and other green vegetables which they make available at kawangware market for the Dagoretti residents.
