FAKE: NO INCREASE OF SCHOOL FEES

During the closure of schools, on 23rd November an increase of school fees started circulating online, leaving parents wondering what next.

On Facebook Activist Koech page was among those that gave parents heart attacks with the news that the school fees will increase.

This left Kenyans to respond to this incident by using Activist’s account to voice their opinions on the subject have urged the government to lower school costs in order to assist more Kenyans in obtaining an education.

From the page Activist koech said that the government has increased school fees by 8500, saying that 60 percent of student in this country will fail to go back to school due to hard times economy.

However, Education Cs Ezekiel Machogu has come out to speak on the claim of school fees hike ahead of national exams. He said I quote “we have not increased the school fees and if it should be done we have the taskforce. Kenyans know we have a government working as the team and moving around the country.

The Education Cabinet Secretary stated that Covid 19 pandemic led to reduction of the school fees due to interruption in the course.

Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu went ahead to clarify that the school fees would be reverted back to where it was scrapping the subsidy.

According to CS Machogu’s reports, the government will continue to charge the same fees as they did prior to Covid19’s attack as indicated in one of the local newspapers here in Kenya.
