The news outlet has distanced itself from the card.
This digital card posted on Facebook with KTN News branding and a quote attributed to Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi is not authentic.
The card shared online on 14 January 2023 has a quote that reads: “The recent behavior from a section of Gatundu north people does not represent the view of Gatundu north constituency, as county government of kiambu, we welcome the proposal of the dam construction whether they like it or not. People should know we have a policy of forceful acquisition and we can implement it anytime.’’
Mtaani Radio fact checking desk sought to verify this card and established that although it bears the branding of KTN News, it does not appear on their verified Facebook and Twitter pages.
On KTN’s Facebook account we found a post disowning the card we are investigating.
We also checked the Governor’s official Facebook and verified Twitter page, but there was no such statement.
