Raila Odinga holds peaceful town hall meeting in Murang’a despite police cancellation notice

Raila Odinga, the leader of Azimio, has arrived in Murang’a for a town hall meeting that is scheduled for Thursday. He was accompanied by Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua and Mt Kenya leaders, and arrived shortly after 11:40 am.

Raila assured Murang’a residents that the meeting will be peaceful and is part of the coalition’s ongoing efforts to engage with the public on the challenges facing the country.

These challenges include the high cost of commodities, the need for electoral justice, the reform and reconstitution of the IEBC, and the protection of multi-party democracy.

Raila emphasized that the meeting will be conducted within the law and invited residents to turn up in large numbers to freely engage on the issues affecting them.

He also announced that similar engagements will be held in other parts of the country in the coming weeks.

Despite the Murang’a County police commander David Mathiu’s notification that he had cancelled the meeting due to being notified too late, former Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria, who is hosting Raila, insisted that the meeting would go on and asked the police not to interfere with it.
