John Kiarie, popularly known as KJ and the Member of Parliament for Dagoretti south, is mourning the loss of his father, David Waweru Ng’ethe, who passed away after a battle with cancer.
Kiarie announced his father’s passing via Twitter, stating that “the Lion has rested.” He also expressed his grief, describing the dark hour and the piercing grief that comes with the finality of death.
Ng’ethe had previously served as the Member of Parliament for Kandara from 1980 to 1983 and ran for the presidency three times, albeit unsuccessfully. In the 1997 presidential election, he secured 3,526 votes out of 6 million, ranking 15th.
In 2002, he received 10,061 of the total 5 million votes, placing him in fifth place, while in 2007, he garnered 5,927 votes out of 9.8 million, ranking eighth.
