A tout accused of pushing a 17-year-old boy out of a moving bus has been apprehended by National Transport and Safety Authority officers. The suspect was subsequently handed over to police at Capitol Hill Police Station for detention.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, May 17, along Outering Road, where the teenager tragically lost his life after being run over by the same bus. Reports suggest that an altercation arose between the tout and the boy due to a fare shortage of Sh20.
In response to the incident, outraged passengers and bystanders set the bus on fire. The police will conduct a thorough investigation into the matter, after which the suspect will face charges.
The driver, identified as Geoffrey, claimed to be unaware of the events that transpired within the bus. He denied the allegations, stating that he only realized something was wrong when he felt an object like a stone under the vehicle after stopping to let passengers disembark near Kware.
Embassava Sacco Chairman, Benson Njoroge, expressed condolences to the victim’s family and apologized for their loss.
