The Treasury Cabinet Secretary, Njuguna Ndung’u, is expected to present the budget for the fiscal year 2023/24. It will be the first budget under President William Ruto’s administration. The estimated budget is Ksh.3.6 trillion.

The National Assembly Finance Committee is proposing an additional allocation of Ksh.80.7 billion, which would bring the total budget to Ksh.4.4 trillion.

Out of the total budget, the national government has been allocated Ksh.2.2 trillion. The Judiciary has been allocated Ksh.22 billion, while the Legislature (National Assembly and Senate) has been given Ksh.41 billion.

As of now, Kenya’s debt stands at Ksh.1.6 trillion, and the government plans to borrow an additional Ksh.720.1 billion.
