The media watchdog has disowned the document.
This statement shared on Facebook purportedly by the Media Council of Kenya (MCK) addressing the governor of Kericho county is FAKE.
The press release shared on 15 August 2023 claimed that MCK expressed concern over the alleged use of derogatory remarks by the governor when addressing journalists.
The document also claimed that the media council demanded a written apology from the governor within seven days.
To verify the document, Mtaani Radio skimmed through MCK’s website and verified Twitter account and Facebook page, but there was no such communication.
On its Twitter account and Facebook page, we found posts flagging the press release as fake.
A search on the internet for any such statement did not provide credible results.
