The Mary Faith Children center situated in Riruta Satelite in Dagoretti South was on Friday night razed down by a fire in one of the dormitories resulting in the loss of one life.
The home houses 30 needy girls most of them without shelter and has also been a rescue center.
However most of the children were in a different house within the compound when fire started in one of the dormitories where two were asleep and despite frantic efforts from the home administrators to put out the blaze to rescue the two bore no fruits due to the intensity of the blaze resulting in one death.
In a twist of events the Nairobi County Fire brigade from the Waithaka Fire Station that was speeding to contain the fire rolled just 50 meters away as it rammed into some road side kiosks killing one occupant and injuring three others who were rushed to KNH.
Early Saturday morning friends and relatives gathered at the home to console with the administrators .
Arising from the fire the other children at the center were transferred to different children rescue centers within Dagoretti South as Police and officers from the Children department launch investigations on the cause of the fire
