The photo is of Afraha stadium in Nakuru County.
This photo shared on Facebook claiming to show the status of Kericho Green stadium is FALSE.
The photo was accompanied by a text, “Kericho Green stadium at 85% complete ahead of mashujaa day. Did you know 1st event to be held after the G-day be KKK cup finals this time is bigger and better.Chamunee!” (Sic).
Kericho County is set to host the 2023 Mashujaa Day celebrations. The event is scheduled to take place at Kericho Green Stadium.
In preparation for the event, the stadium has been undergoing renovations.
Mtaani Radio performed a Google reverse image search and established that the photo is an artistic impression of Afraha stadium in Nakuru County.
It was published on Facebook by former Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui on 12 May 2021.
According to Kinyanjui, the stadium was being upgraded to international standards.
The image was also published on Nakuru county government’s X account (formerly Twitter) and on People Daily.
