This photo shared on X (formerly Twitter) claiming to show Kasarani Member of Parliament Ronald Karauri crowning himself king is ALTERED.
The image depicts Karauri dressed in what appears to be royal attire and carrying what appears to be a sword.
“He crowned himself the King of Kasarani constituency recently in a mad power rant on X,” the post reads.
To confirm the photo’s authenticity, Mtaani Radio performed Google reverse image search and discovered that the original image is of former Emperor of the Central African Republic Jean-Bedel Bokassa.
History Collection published the photo in an article dated 12 April 2021. The publication credited the photo to award-winning photojournalist Jeremy Hunter.
The photo was reportedly taken during Bokassa’s coronation.
