The government spokesperson has disowned the post.
This Facebook post using President William Ruto’s image and purporting to issue a Sh12,000 grant is a scam.
The post also has the Kenyan flag, creating the impression that it is a government initiative.
Only for low income people and the elderly reply is within 3 days of registration),” the post reads.
A WHOIS search on the website established that it was registered in August 2019 in California, United States of America.
To validate the claim, we performed a keyword search, but there was no credible result for the alleged grant.
Mtaani Radio contacted Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura, who dismissed the claim and termed it fake news.
Additionally, the website attached to the post has a suspicious URL that is not consistent with URLs of Kenyan government agencies that use a .go.ke domain for example the Office of the president’s website is https://www.president.go.ke/
