FALSE: This image doesn’t show a flooded road in Nairobi

The image is of submerged cars in Mombasa after a heavy downpour.This photo shared on X (formerly Twitter) claiming to show a flooded area in Nairobi County is FALSE.

The image shows submerged cars in what appears to be a flooded road.

“Where are the boats which Johnson Sakaja bought? Nairobi is flooded yet someone pocketed El-Nino money! Time to prepare for Babu Owino in 2027,” reads the post.

Different parts of the country have been experiencing heavy rainfall, which the Kenya Meteorological Department has termed as El Nino.

Mtaani Radio performed a Google reverse image search and discovered that the photo was taken in Mombasa.

Nation Africa, a Kenyan publication, published the image on 3 November 2023 and indicated that it is of Mombasa-Changamwe Road.

The photo was also published by NTV Kenya and Kenyans.co.ke.
