Residents of Kawangware have raised serious concerns over continuous noise pollution caused by the Jesus Revival Centre Church. The church reportedly plays excessively loud music from 6 PM to 9 AM, seven days a week, leaving residents with little respite from the noise.
Frustrated by the ongoing disturbance, the affected residents filed a complaint at Muthangari Police Station on December 1, 2023. However, instead of receiving the assistance they sought, the complainants were detained, while the church’s pastor faced no repercussions and continued with normal operations.
Geoffrey Mosiria, Chief Officer in Charge of Environment in Nairobi County, personally visited the church and confirmed that the noise levels at 9 PM were intolerable, despite only a small congregation being present at the time.
“The suffering of Kawangware residents due to this noise pollution is unacceptable,” Mosiria stated.
In response, Nairobi County authorities have issued a formal notice to the church, instructing them to reduce the noise levels. Should they fail to comply, the county government has vowed to take appropriate legal action to protect the community from further harm.
The residents of Kawangware continue to await relief, hopeful that swift measures will be taken to restore peace to their neighborhood.
