Nairobi County Governor Johnson Sakaja has announced a significant reshuffle of county leadership, reassigning several County Chief Officers (CCOs) to new dockets.
In a communiqué released on Tuesday, Governor Sakaja invoked Section 45(5) of the County Governments Act, 2012, which empowers the governor to reassign a county chief officer to a different role when necessary.
A total of 10 CCOs have been moved, with some receiving expanded responsibilities as part of the reorganization.
Among the major changes:
- Geoffrey Mosiria, previously active and visible in the Environment docket, has been transferred to Citizen Engagement and Customer Service.
- Clement Rapudo, popularly known as Clemos from his music production career and co-founding of Calif Records, moves from City Culture, Arts and Tourism to Smart Nairobi, which oversees the county’s ICT and e-services.
- Godfrey Akumali shifts from Business and Hustler Opportunities to Housing and Urban Renewal, effectively swapping roles with Lydia Mathia.
- Hibrahim Otieno takes over as the new Environment CCO, handing the Medical Facilities docket to Sande Gyolo.
- Sande Gyolo, who previously served as CCO for Digital Economy and Start-ups, now makes way for Wilson Gakuya, the former head of Smart Nairobi.
- Machel Waikenda retains his position in the Mobility docket and additionally becomes Acting ICT Infrastructure CCO.
- Zipporah Mwangi transitions from Citizen Engagement and Customer Service to City Culture, Arts and Tourism.
The reshuffle is expected to bolster efficiency and align leadership responsibilities with the county’s strategic priorities.
