Nominees to contest various positions on the United Democratic Alliance Party ticket from Manyatta Constituency in Embu have formed a caucus that will enable them to carry out a united campaign to win all seats for their party.
The caucus to be chaired by Member of Parliament nominee, John Gitonga Mukunji, will also include the Embu UDA Senate nominee, current Deputy Governor David Kariuki Njeru and MCA nominees Muriithi Kobole of Mbeti North, Ibrahim Swaleh of Kirimari and Martin Mwangi of Gaturi South. Others are Julius Karuri of Kithimu ward, Kimathi Juma of Ruguru/Ngandori and Maurice Macharia of Nginda.
Addressing the media after their inaugural meeting at an Embu hotel, the aspirants extended an olive branch to those they defeated and welcomed them to form one formidable campaign team that will enable their party to sweep all the seats on offer, and the presidential vote for their Party Leader, Deputy President Dr. William Ruto.
They also appealed to Dr Ruto to find a way of accommodating the losers so that they do not decamp to their rivals.
They said they appreciated the losers, especially outgoing Manyatta MP John Muchiri, who had put in a lot of work and resources into popularizing the party in the county.
They said the losers should not be discarded now that they have lost but asked Mr. Ruto to find a way of accommodating them in the campaign and in his government if they win.
They added that the county is largely a UDA party zone and they plan to lock out other parties.
